Recognition for Incremental Innovation
●  First-ever “Diversity and Inclusion” value-combining science education activity.
●  Ranked 7 among foreign enterprises, a great leap from last year.
The winners of the 2019 “Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility Awards” were announced yesterday. Covestro Taiwan has received special honors for the third consecutive year, ranking 7 among foreign enterprises and making a great leap forward from last year. Aside from its continuous promotion of science education in combination with its expertise in polymers, Covestro has incorporated “Diversity and Inclusion” as a key theme of this year’s new projects – “Grandparent and Grandchild Science Camps” and “MagicMaterial School”. The company’s progressive innovation over the years has not only acquired recognition from the review committee, but it has also proved Covestro Taiwan’s commitment to its employees, society, environment, and the earth.

“Winning the Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility Award for a third time not only reflects society’s recognition of Covestro Taiwan’s commitment to social responsibility,” said Michael Lee, Managing Director of Covestro Taiwan, “but it also constitutes a source of our motivation for the continuous promotion of science education in Taiwan. In the future, Covestro will cooperate closely with partners in combining diversity and inclusion values, thereby projecting a positive influence and making the world a better place.”
With 3P principle – ‘People’, ‘Planet’, and ‘Profit’, Covestro Taiwan encompasses the company’s expertise in addressing social and educational issues, while actively working towards the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In response to Taiwan officially becoming an aged society, Covestro Taiwan initiated the “Grandparent and Grandchild Science Camp” to encourage mental exercises for elders, to advocate lifelong learning, and to promote harmony and inclusion between elders and the younger generation. As for the “MagicMaterial School” project, diversity and inclusion values were prioritized, as students from the Taichung hearing impairment science groups were invited to work as lab personnel, where they were responsible for explaining science principles. This project accomplished two goals: facilitating interactions between different groups and strengthening the confidence of students with hearing impairments.

As a manufacturer of innovative materials, Covestro Taiwan has long engaged in local cultivation as well as attending to society’s needs. In addition to providing science education activities as a means of fulfilling its corporate social responsibilities, Covestro Taiwan urges its partners and children to address the issue of plastic pollution in our oceans. Regarding the future, Covestro Taiwan will continue to expand the diversity of its CSR activities, by utilizing innovation and digitalization in order to contribute to society.
