Pittsburgh, PA, February 7, 2019 — The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the American Chemistry Council (ACC) established a two-year alliance on September 13, 2017 to raise awareness of occupational exposure to diisocyanates, and promote safe practices for their use in the polyurethane industry. Two new work products developed through the Alliance have now been released: “Medical Screening and Surveillance For Workers Potentially Exposed to Diisocyanates: A Guide for Workers” and “Medical Screening and Surveillance For Workers Potentially Exposed to Diisocyanates: A Guide for the Employer.”

The purpose of medical screening and surveillance is to detect potential health effects early. This will make treatment more effective and may prevent illness progression.
