Sustainable research that conserves resources
High-tech under one roof: Space for groundbreaking research
The technology center was inaugurated in 2024 and has an area of around 1,400 square meters. Here, researchers have access to, among other things, a seven-meter-high laboratory area with six large fume hoods, a filigree “station” for technical gases with 60 pipelines, and a completely darkenable laser room for flow experiments.
Focus on efficient processes and recycling
Covestro is further advancing innovative technologies such as the chemical recycling of polycarbonate in the High-Viscosity Technology Center. The company is also researching, for example, new manufacturing processes that can operate at lower process temperatures and correspondingly lower energy input. In the future, this could save raw materials, energy, and space consumption and reduce waste quantities – good for the ecological footprint of certain plastic products.
