Utilizing waste heat, advancing climate neutrality
Waste heat becomes a steam source
The HPG technology generates over 20,000 tons of steam annually from waste heat – saving over 16 gigawatt hours of primary energy and 4,300 tons of CO2. An investment of around seven million euros has made this project possible – and thus made an important contribution to energy efficiency and CO2 reduction.
Resource-efficient production of durable products
Using the energy and resource-saving HPG technology, the BIL plant here in Leverkusen produces, among other things, precursors for the coating raw material Desmodur N. Coatings based on this protect many products we rely on daily – these include, for example, cars, wooden furniture, food packaging, but also ships and bridges. The coating ensures greater weather resistance, UV stability, and corrosion resistance – and thus also contributes to sustainable use.
