Sustainable corporate headquarters for future-forward work

Here in Chempark Leverkusen, Covestro opened its new, sustainable corporate headquarters at the end of 2020. The building has an internationally recognized environmental certificate, including an energy-saving building envelope, and uses the waste heat from the Chempark in the form of residual steam.

Sustainable building solutions enabled by Covestro materials

Polyurethane (PU) panels insulate the 2,800 square meter roof and the approximately 200 square meter terrace areas. In large parts of the ground floor, a PU terrazzo was laid as flooring, which was sealed with a special water-based PU coating. The curtain facade of the building is stabilized, among other things, by a substructure made of “purenit”, a construction material made from recycled polyurethane.

Certified corporate headquarters

Covering around 22,800 square meters, the Covestro headquarters offers space for around 700 employees. The solar roof provides up to 43.5 kilowatts of electrical power at peak times when the sun is shining. Not least due to its sustainable construction and environmental compatibility, the Covestro corporate headquarters was awarded the LEED Gold Certificate for sustainable building.

A workplace for innovative ideas

The headquarters reflects Covestro's special corporate values: curious, courageous, and colorful. In this inspiring environment, Covestro employees work on sustainable solutions for tomorrow. A special highlight is the idea.lab – a place for exchange and collaborative work on innovative ideas. Exhibitions and team workshops are held here, and it is also used as a co-working space. For its design, the Covestro-Headquarter was awarded the “German Brand Award” in Gold in 2021.
