Covestro Taiwan's Pingtung Site Receives ISCC PLUS Certification

- Group's first ISCC PLUS certified powder coating resin site in Asia

Covestro, a leading German materials manufacturer, announced that its Pingtung site[1] in Taiwan, which produces powder coating resins, officially received International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC PLUS) in December 2025. As the group's first ISCC PLUS powder coating resin site in the Asia-Pacific region, this breakthrough development strengthens Covestro's market competitiveness in the circular economy and low-carbon products. Moreover, for Asian customers, local supply can further reduce product carbon footprints, optimizing green supply chains while supporting Covestro's commitment to achieving Scope 3[2] climate neutrality by 2050.
Covestro's Pingtung site is the only production site within the Covestro Group responsible for global supply of powder coating resins, with major customers in the construction materials, automotive, and electronics industries. Powder coatings already have lower carbon emissions than traditional industrial coatings. Now, with ISCC PLUS certification, the Pingtung site can supply traceable low-carbon powder coating resins containing bio-based, bio-circular, or recycled alternative raw materials, officially becoming an important part of the green supply chain.
"In response to global carbon reduction trends, the Pingtung site has completed internal energy transformation and moved toward environmental-friendly processes in recent years, actively supporting the group's green supply chain initiatives," stated CF Tsai, Pingtung Site Manager. "Obtaining ISCC PLUS certification will enhance the Pingtung plant's value in the sustainable supply chain, facilitate regional production portfolio optimization within the group, and secure more international low-carbon product orders."
"The Pingtung site is the second facility among our Taiwan production bases to receive ISCC PLUS certification, following our TPU-producing Changhua site, and is also the group's first powder resin facility in Asia to receive this certification," stated Annie Chen, Managing Director of Covestro Taiwan. "This milestone not only represents Covestro's sustainability strategy in Taiwan, but also demonstrates to customers that Covestro is a value chain partner that can help customers achieve sustainable transformation and contribute to Scope 3 emissions reduction."
In addition to existing low-carbon product lines such as EasyCure, the Pingtung site has also been producing NIA-PFAS[3] super-durable flexible powder coating resin since earlier this year. With ISCC PLUS certification, the site can now provide traceable powder coating resins containing alternative raw materials, demonstrating more comprehensive influence in the sustainable materials market.
