Covestro’s Steven Reinstadtler Receives CPI Distinguished Leader Award
Pittsburgh, PA, October 7, 2026 – Covestro LLC is proud to announce that Steven Reinstadtler, architectural and construction coatings manager at Covestro, has been selected to receive the Center for the Polyurethane Industry’s (CPI) Distinguished Leadership Award. The award was presented during the Closing Session and Awards Luncheon at the 2026 CPI Polyurethanes Technical Conference in Orlando, Florida, on October 7, 2026.
Established to recognize individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and advanced the goals of CPI and the broader polyurethanes industry, the award honors Reinstadtler’s long-standing contributions, most notably his work with CPI's Professional Development Program and his years of service as an instructor for the polyurethane coatings and elastomers courses.
"Over the years of teaching and presenting, I've met a lot of technical and commercial professionals, many of them fairly new to the polyurethane industry," said Reinstadtler. "One of the most rewarding feelings is when they approach you years later and tell you they remembered something from your training and that it made a difference in their job and their research. I strive to be a servant leader, so that really makes me feel like I did something right."
Throughout a career spanning elastomers, microcellular foams, coatings, and sealants, Reinstadtler has championed both the technical and commercial sides of the industry, advocating for the sustainability and cost-effectiveness of high-performance polyurethanes. On receiving the award, he noted, "This shows that ACC and CPI value training and sharing technical developments. Being recognized for demonstrating the Ethical Leadership Benefiting Society principle of Responsible Care is pretty special."
"Steven has been a part of the fabric of Covestro for 38 years, and during that time he has shown an unmatched commitment to educating and sharing the benefits of polyurethane-based chemistry,” said Jack O’Malley, senior country representative for coatings and adhesives NA at Covestro. “We are incredibly proud of Steven and thankful for CPI’s recognition of his ongoing efforts on behalf of the industry.”
