Return value to the waste and to the society

Covestro delivers high-visibility working suits from recycle materials under Hands for a Brighter World campaign

From its successful “Hands for a Brighter World” campaign that was launched in June 2022, Covestro Thailand has handed-over the high visibility working suits to promote safety and bring the concept waste-to-value to live. Under the ‘Hands for a Brighter World’ campaign, the company has supported plastic waste sorting stations for further recycling activities to Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) at Bangkok City Hall and 5 more stations were installed at the Covestro manufacturing site in Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate to engaged participations from both public and its own employees to provide used plastic bottles and upcycled them into high-visibility working suits to increase the safety of the staff while working. This is in line with the circular economy principle which can also create value back to the community and society.

In September 2022, Dr. Timo Slawinski, Managing Director of Covestro (Thailand) Co., Ltd. handed-over 100 set of the working suits made from upcycling plastic bottels from the “Hands for a Brighter World” campaign to Mr. Wirat Manassanitwong, Director of the Bureau of Environment and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to provide to the road sweepers in Bangkok. Another 50 sets were given to Mr. Thawin Phothibuathong, the Mayor of Map Ta Phut Town Municipality for the use by Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation work at Map Ta Phut to increase the safety of officers while on duty. These safety suites are made from upcycling plastic bottles donated by Covestro’s employees and people in Bangkok.

Covestro continues to strive to make the world a brighter place by driving a circular economy and optimizing the utilization of resources and producing plastics sustainably.
