Hilker, The Top German Mattress Brand, Launches The World’s First Anti-Yellowing Mattress In Taiwan

Covestro and Hilker signed a Memorandum for Cooperation

Summary

Jointly promoting an innovative new-generation foam into the global bedding market

Supported by the innovative polyurethane materials from Covestro, the internationally renowned German mattress brand Hilker launched the world’s first anti-yellowing multifunction mattress yesterday in Taiwan (March 21st). The Hilker AirFlow Mattress Collection series includes pocket-spring and foam bed mattresses. Hilker signed a memorandum of cooperation with Covestro during the product launching event represented by Managing Director of Covestro Taiwan, Dr. Carsten Wildebrand and the CEO of Hilker, Ernst Hilker.

“Commitment to seeking more excellent products and continuously launching upgraded bedding products has been Hilker’s business philosophy for nearly 150 years. The piSpring® foam with Desmodur® white, Covestro’s latest innovation technology, maintains the foam inside our newest Hilker AirFlow Mattress Collection to be long-lastingly white and clean. The unique soft piSpring® foam also significantly elevates the comforts of the mattress,” said Emst Hilker, CEO of Hilker. “Attaching great importance to Taiwan’s market, Hilker chose to start from Taiwan this time, and launch the world’s first improved Hilker AirFlow Mattress Collection series. Our next step is promoting it in the Asia-Pacific’s and the worldwide bedding markets.”

Hilker was established in 1888 and was awarded the badge of the royal family in 1906, symbolising the status of the family and the high-quality factory. In the middle of the badge, furniture production tools and trees surrounding them can be seen, expressing environmental protection and exquisite craftsmanship.

“We are excited to see that Covestro’s Desmodur® white was able to support Hilker to improve their newest product. Covestro will further develop more low-carbon and environmentally friendly bio-based aliphatic polyurethane foam technologies to enhance the industry’s sustainable development,” stated Nick Sun, Head of CA Sales & Market Development Taiwan & UVR Product Manager of Covestro Taiwan. “While surpassing our customer needs, we will work to elevate the industry’s benchmark for carbon emissions. We look forward to signing this memorandum of cooperation to assist Hilker in contributing to sustainable development.”

Since Dr. Otto Bayer of Covestro invented polyurethane foam in 1937, aromatic polyester polyols foam has been widely applied in bedding products. In 2017, Covestro successfully elevated the soft foam market by creating the Desmodur® white – the soft, elastic, long-lasting white and anti-yellowing aliphatic polyurethane foam. With the cooperation with Holy Foam Enterprises and many other companies, piSpring® foam was produced using this technology and applied to lingerie, bath sponge and other bedding products, including mattresses, pillows, electric adjustable beds, and more.

The piSpring® aliphatic polyurethane foam can be used in mattresses, sleep pads, pillows, and other products. It provides many excellent functions, such as dynamic micro-elasticity. It provides dynamic pressure relief with 360° comprehensive resilient support for mattress, as if countless tiny independent springs pockets in the mattress. The foam moulds to your body but also facilitates effortless turning over on the bed. With those efforts, it turned to be new long-lasting white and anti-yellow mattress with improved ergonomic performance.
