Delivering life-saving medications in emergency and battlefield conditions—where electricity may not be available —is where traditional infusion methods using either electric pumps or gravity-fed bags will fall short. Recognizing this need, MonuMedical LLC developed the EZfuser™, an innovative single-use syringe pump infuser designed for out-of-hospital care settings.
Engineered with a medical-grade Makrolon® polycarbonate from Covestro, the EZfuser™ sets a new standard for rugged, reliable, and gamma-stable medical devices. According to MonuMedical, it is the first wearable, compact, disposable, and non-electric infusion device designed to deliver medications in environments where electronic pumps are unavailable—such as military operations, EMS and home infusion settings.
MonuMedical LLC developed the EZfuser™ in partnership with the U.S. Air Force to withstand extreme conditions while still meeting rigorous requirements for medical devices. The company turned to Covestro for its Makrolon® polycarbonate materials, which contribute to the ruggedness through high-impact resistance and still meet added requirements of being sterilized by gamma radiation and ultrasonically welded. Covestro also provided additional support in selecting custom colors that met regulatory requirements for various components.

Makrolon® Rx2530 polycarbonate offers a unique combination of properties that make it ideal for demanding medical applications:

The EZfuser™ is expected to launch in the United States in 2026, with expansion in other countries in 2027.
