New advanced wound care material from Covestro enhances patient comfort and healing through superior moisture management and improved functional properties

Wound care is much more than simply dressing a wound or applying a bandage. An aging population, the prevalence of chronic conditions, and a growing number of surgical procedures have increased the demand for higher performance and innovative tailor-made dressing solutions.
Covestro developed a new prepolymer, Baymedix® FP512, to meet that demand. Foam based on this aliphatic isocyanate enables manufacturers to sustainably create high-performance wound dressings with improved mechanical characteristics such as wet strength, minimal swelling, and optimized moisture management capabilities.
An experienced materials supplier to the medical industry, Covestro will highlight the Baymedix® FP512 prepolymer at MD&M West 2026, taking place February 3-5 in Anaheim, California. This advanced material will be featured as part of Covestro's “The Material Effect” showcase at booth #2439.
