Boehm to head Covestro’s specialty films global product management in Dormagen, Germany


Pittsburgh, February 10, 2021 — Effective January 5, 2021, Covestro LLC welcomed Fernando d’Andrea as the new vice president and general plant manager of its South Deerfield, MA facility, which manufactures plastic specialty films. d’Andrea succeeds Jim Boehm, who has taken on a new product management role at the Covestro site in Dormagen, Germany.

d’Andrea joined Bayer’s material science business (now Covestro) in 2000 as an application and development engineer at their facility in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Since then, he has gained extensive manufacturing and commercial experience, taking on positions of increasing responsibility at sites in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Leverkusen, Germany, and Pittsburgh, PA. In 2017. d’Andrea assumed his most recent role as Managing Director of Covestro operations in Brazil as well as head of marketing and sales for Covestro’s polyurethane business in Latin America.

d’Andrea holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in business administration from universities in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

I’m looking forward to working with such a highly respected team at our South Deerfield site,” said d’Andrea. “Under Jim’s leadership, the South Deerfield site has sustained a strong manufacturing presence in the region and active community engagement. Boehm began his new role in Dormagen, Germany on January 1, 2021.

“It has been an honor and a privilege leading the Covestro South Deerfield manufacturing team. I take comfort in knowing the site is in good hands under Fernando’s capable leadership,” said Boehm.
