Covestro launched the “Brighter Future, Better Vision” joining the mission to reduce plastic waste in Thailand.

Dr. Juergen Meyn, Managing Director of Covestro (Thailand) Co., Ltd. said,  “Over the years, plastic waste has been continously increased globally, as a result, all parties, both the government and private sectors, have made this issue a priority and come together to find solutions. With our business strategy that puts an importance on sustainaibility, Covestro embodies sustainability as a buisness’s core value in the process of our R&D, manufacturing and delivering products that are friendly to community, society, and environment along with delivering benefits for all involved parties. And the efforts are in line with our commitment to UN Sustainable Development Goals in 2015 and the goal of Alliance to End Plastic Waste network in which the company has joined early this year.”

In response to the global strategy and policy, Covestro in Thailand has taken part in plastic waste reduction effort through the campaign “Brighter Future, Better Vision” that was launched at all locations across the country.  The activitiy which engaged with both employees and communities, includes PET bottles collecting and donating from employees, waste collecting at communities around Map Ta Phut production site, and also awareness raising and knowledge sharing about effective plastic waste management to children at Wat Ta Kuan School in Rayong. The campaign targets to drive an involvement of the private sector and the communities to take more serious action in reducing plastic waste while embeding the environment responsible mindset in the long run.

In addition, all the collected PET plastic bottles from this campaign will enter recycling process along with our polycarbonates material to produce eyeglasses frames. And all the eyeglasses will be further donated to students in schools as one of educational support for youth, aligning with a waste-to-value concept that based on the Circular Economy. And the efforts are also in line with our commitment to UN Sustainable Development Goals in 2015 and the goal of Alliance to End Plastic Waste network in which the company has joined early this year.
