Covestro upgrades its Vulkollan® Technical Center in Leverkusen

Summary

Hands-on expertise and dedicated equipment to support customers challenges

Covestro has officially opened its newly shaped technical center for high performance polyurethane elastomers of the Vulkollan® range. Equipped with the latest generation and dedicated equipment for the processing of Desmodur® 15 based elastomers, this technical center in Leverkusen aims at enabling the development of new Vulkollan® based solutions as part of Covestro’s Solutions & Specialties segment. It is the perfect set-up for its experts to develop, test, prototype and customize customer solutions.

"For this high performance elastomer, it is all about a close customer interaction to leverage the full benefit of differentiated innovative solutions," says Sucheta Govil, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Covestro. "The investment in the global Vulkollan® technical center is another consequent step of our commitment to develop elastomer solutions for our customers, especially when other elastomers are reaching their limit."

"Thanks to an extremely high mechanical strength and dynamic load capacity, Vulkollan® is the preferred engineering material for highly demanding applications," explains Dr. Thomas Braig, Head of the Elastomers Business Entity. "For example, these elastomers perfectly suit high-end material handling applications. With this technical center, we intend to provide our customers with the opportunity to experiment and develop this elastomer in their most challenging applications."

Vulkollan® has been one of the most powerful and reknown elastomers for decades. It is mostly used where highest performance cannot be compromised to ensure best reliability for the end-user. Whether it is to keep an e-commerce logistic platform running 24/7 or to contribute to the safety of most exciting roller coasters, Vulkollan® is always part of the solution.
