Strategy
The world is facing enormous global challenges. These include advancing climate change, increasing mobility, a growing world population and increasing urbanization. Covestro is addressing these challenges and combining economic success with sustainability. The goal is to realize Covestro's purpose: "To make the world a brighter place".
To this end, we are fully committed to the circular economy. The focus here is on four topics: Alternative Raw Materials to replace fossil raw materials such as crude oil. Innovative Recycling, where energy-efficient technologies allow more used products and waste to be recycled. Renewable Energy, so that clean energy must power the Circular Economy. And Joint Solutions, to bring the Circular Economy forward through cross-industry collaboration.
We are pushing boundaries – with our employees and production facilities, through our products, and with a consistent focus on innovation and sustainability. We rely on technologies that reduce energy consumption and emissions in our production processes. And we replace traditional materials such as glass and metal, which are manufactured less sustainably or have a less sustainable life cycle, with products and plastics we develop.
