Preparing for the unexpected is an important part of maintaining a safe workplace and protecting the surrounding community.

Recently, Covestro's Pittsburgh site conducted a full-scale emergency response drill led by the site's Emergency Response Team (ERT). The exercise brought together Covestro's ERT and Medical teams alongside first responders from Allegheny Health Network and Robinson EMS to simulate a chemical spill scenario and evaluate emergency response procedures.

During the exercise, responders safely evacuated two simulated employees, completed decontamination procedures and coordinated medical treatment while also testing the site's Send Word Now emergency notification system. Following the drill, participants held a joint debrief to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and strengthen collaboration across responding teams.

Covestro extends its appreciation to the Emergency Response Team, Medical team, site leadership and community partners whose dedication helps ensure the continued safety of employees, neighbors and the communities where we operate.
