Hot sun, pouring rain and falling snow – these are just some of the conditions that commuters endure while waiting for public transportation. With this unpredictable weather, it’s important to have shelters that offer thorough protection, while fitting the look and feel of the neighborhood.
EXTECH/Exterior Technologies brought this much-needed defense against the elements with a stylistic flair to a bus station in East Liberty, a neighborhood located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This surface mounted, single-glazed translucent polycarbonate industrial canopy system is known as the SKYSHADE 3300™. Covering 5,000 square feet, it utilizes a polycarbonate sheet glazing material from Covestro LLC in its overhead canopies.
The canopy system required a lightweight, light transmitting and high-strength glazing material. Covestro worked with EXTECH to find the ideal material that met these requirements, as outlined by the transit authority. Makrolon® UV polycarbonate sheet in white from Covestro did the trick.
