Colorful art meets Covestro’s headquarters

As a global company, Covestro wants to bring its color and design expertise directly to its customers regardless of where they are located. With seven Color & Design Centers around the world - Newark, Ohio; Filago, Italy; Greater Noida, India; Shanghai and Guangzhou, China; Map Ta Phut, Thailand; and Seoul, South Korea – Covestro does just that, enabling fast, local service.

The full range of design capabilities and color and special-effect technologies is available at any of Covestro’s Color & Design Centers, but you will find Terry Bush at only one.

Terry Bush, color specialist, Covestro LLC, lends his talents to the Color & Design Center in Newark, Ohio. Bush’s decades of experience working with plastics and colors began at an age when most kids passed their time with Legos and comic books. When he was only 11, Bush helped his father, a production manager at a plastics plant with a penchant for entrepreneurship, build hood scoops, satellite dishes and canoes in their family’s garage.

Bush began his career with what was then Mobay Chemical in May 1981, when he joined the company’s production team. As his experience level rose, so did his career, taking him from production to the lab to a position as a colorist and on to his current role. Bush’s years of service and expertise complement that of other staff members at the Newark, Ohio, center, providing customers with a combined 100+ years of experience.

Bush works with the other experts to provide customers with a positive experience and a solution unique to their needs. From molded-in color to coloration of already-molded parts to assistance navigating Covestro’s extensive color library to color development and custom compounding services, Bush and his colleagues at the Color & Design Center can do it all. Bush enjoys working as well as hanging out with his global colleagues, who rely on him as a global resource for color development. He also enjoys fishing and spending time with his family in his free time.

Bush cites working with the customers that come into the Color & Design Center as one of his favorite parts of his job. He always looks forward to solving a new challenge, and has made some good friends in the process.

According to Bush, working with designers today is very “colorful” with increasingly more out-of-the-box thinking. He sees color evolving in the future to where it will offer not just aesthetics but also function. Covestro is already working on this with several functional colors under development and more on the way. Bush sums it up best – “It’s a fun time to be a color guy.”

Thanks to experts like Terry Bush, Covestro can provide its customers with unparalleled color and design support.
