Whether travelling by plane, train or car – luggage gets tossed, dropped and worse. When arriving at their final destination, travelers want their suitcases to be intact and their belongings protected. The durable Makrolon® polycarbonate packs style and security for the Porsche Design Roadster hard-shell suitcases – without adding weight.
Luggage with first-class qualities
To develop suitcases for the Porsche Design line, travel goods manufacturer Müller & Meirer needed a material that could provide the attractive aesthetic, durability and security that consumers desire.
Make toughness lightweight
In search of the right material, Müller & Meirer teamed up with Covestro to develop a solution. The material for the suitcases had to be tough enough to help keep personal items protected and secure inside the luggage yet also light weight. A high degree of design freedom also was an important issue.
A special grade of Makrolon® featuring outstanding surface properties and style
The arrival of Makrolon® polycarbonate was a great new asset for luxurious and fashionable travel bags. Offering impressive design freedom, excellent surface properties and a wide range of color options, it enabled Müller & Meirer to upgrade the luggage line to a new class. Along with Makrolon® polycarbonate’s overall light weight, scratch resistance and durability these properties set it all apart from other, similar materials.
