LED lighting continues its emergence as a go-to technology around the globe due to its high energy efficiency and design freedom. For LED lighting applications requiring high lumen efficiency and stability to heat – such as lenses and optics –Makrolon® LED2643 polycarbonate is ideal. Compared with standard clear polycarbonate grades, Makrolon® LED2643 has higher light transmission and increased efficiency of up to 6 percent, which provides higher lumen output. Makrolon® LED2643 polycarbonate is also impact resistant, features a UL 94 flame class rating of V-2 at 0.75 mm and is f1 rated for outdoor use (in accordance with UL 746C). Outdoor applications can use AuraTM UV infusion into Makrolon® LED2643 polycarbonate to maintain optical properties with minimal changes in yellowness index, light transmission and haze.
Makrolon® Lumen XT and Makrolon® DX-NR sheet, designed specifically for LED lighting, offers a range of diffusion levels for interior and exterior applications, with optimized light transmission delivering unsurpassed quality and performance. Makrolon® Lumen XT translucent polycarbonate sheet also offers an optimized surface texture and advanced diffusion technology that eliminates hot spots and shadowing for interior fixtures. For exterior light fixtures, Makrolon® DX-NR sheet provides excellent impact strength compared with glass and acrylic. Diffuser technology helps provide uniform luminance and ensures the elimination of LED hot spots while maintaining high light transmission.
