Wearables with hard covers, such as on-body drug delivery or sensitive diagnostic devices, need the right materials. During MEDICA – the world’s largest event for the medical sector – we will showcase our polycarbonate solutions for these applications at Booth D46, Hall 13. For example, our Makrolon® polycarbonate medical grades offer excellent dimensional stability and outstanding mechanical properties while enabling the development of safe, patient-friendly devices.
Pushing boundaries in healthcare at MEDICA and COMPAMED
With a high degree of transparency and good surface texture, Makrolon® polycarbonate also provides a wide range of design options, including the integration of LED light guides. Additionally, we can meet even more customer requirements with our Bayblend® PC+ABS blends.

Healthcare is going digital, and with this transformation comes a higher market demand for electronic patches. Visitors to the Covestro booth can see how our Baymedix® and Platilon® materials are the right solution for these applications, including electroencephalograms (EEG), maternity belts, blood pressure measuring tapes and individual electrocardiograms (ECG).
Our healthcare team will also highlight an innovative wound care concept at Booth H30, Hall 8B during COMPAMED – the world’s leading platform for state-of-the-art medical technology, co-located with MEDICA. After developing a design study that addresses the top three factors for bedsores – pressure, friction and shear – we created a highly breathable wound dressing prototype made of Baymedix® and Platilon® materials. These polyurethane materials not only optimize the bedsore factors, but also offer excellent moisture management and utilize an efficient and sustainable manufacturing technology.
During the COMPAMED Suppliers Forum, Covestro expert Dr. Marc-Stephan Weiser will share the wound prevention design study on November 20 at 3:30 p.m.
We are looking forward to demonstrating how our materials are driving new developments and meeting the needs of emerging markets.
