Antibiotic resistance happens when bacteria change and become resistant to the antibiotics used to treat the infections they cause.[1] Drug-resistant infections have become a major challenge to global public health, causing the death of 700,000 people and 230,000 newborns worldwide every year.[2] This is creating a need for harsher disinfectants, and ultimately materials that offer chemical resistance to help ensure patient safety.
